Atarau Kiwi Santaury

Atarau Santuary: Verum Group is the proud sponsor of the Atarau Sanctuary near Greymouth. Atarau Sanctuary provides predator-free sanctuary for Paparoa Wildlife Trust’s roroa / great spotted kiwi chicks, who are hatched at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve and then put in the sanctuary until they are old enough to fend for themselves. While they are in our care, Verum Group researchers observe and listen to them through passive bioacoustic monitoring. Verum Group's work in bioacoustic monitoring of wildlife and the algorithms our talented researchers have developed as part of that monitoring are gaining attention around the world.

Atarau Sanctuary is the first land-based pest-proof crèche specifically for kiwi in the South Island and the only facility in New Zealand for roroa to take sanctuary until they are big enough to head out into the world. Since opening in 2010, we have given sanctuary to dozens of roroa chicks.

Christchurch Art Gallery: Verum Group is the proud education partner of the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū. Verum Group Director Luc Bohyn says the Christchurch Art Gallery is a good fit for Verum Group sponsorship, with a rich overlap between the arts and sciences. "Without art, we would struggle to communicate science. And without science, art would be the poorer."

William Porter at Tai Tapu Golf Course

Verum Group's senior environmental scientist and occupational hygienist William Porter along with his two-year-old golden retriever Jasper at the Verum Group-sponsored 8th tee.

Tai Tapu Golf Course: It's a long par 4, a straight shot with a few tree obstacles to a green with a few subtle turns. Named "Mountain View", it's a hole that suits the nature of Verum Group, so it was a no-brainer to offer our sponsorship for the 8th hole at the stunning Tai Tapu Golf Course near Christchurch on the Akaroa Highway - a course voted the most favourite 9 hole course in New Zealand in a survey conducted by New Zealand Golf.

It's also the favourite course of Verum Group's senior environmental scientist and occupational hygienist William Porter along with his two-year-old golden retriever Jasper.

"This is a great opportunity for Verum Group to give back to the community and we are extremely proud for people to see our sign up on the tee block. The course itself is beautiful, nestled into an arc of the Halswell River at the foot of the Otahuna Valley. Come on down and have a hit and don’t forget to scan the QR code when you're waiting for your mates to tee off to see what amazing things we do at Verum Group," says Billy.
